Classical Brit Award Nominees Katie Marshall and Thomas Cameron to perform in Glasgow

On Friday 20th September 2019, Newlands Global Events proudly welcomes Katie Marshall and Thomas Cameron, two of the finest up and coming classical singers in the UK to perform a special one-off intimate concert at Sherbrooke Mosspark Parish Church in the leafy suburb of Pollokshields in the South of the city as part of The Rising Stars of Classical Music Concert Series 2019/20.
This unique concert will showcase music from 18 year old soprano Katie Marshall’s latest album ‘Voice Divine’ which is available now alongside 20 year old Tenor Thomas Cameron who will perform music from his debut album ‘The Voice of Thomas Cameron.’ In addition, they will also perform some very special duets.
Katie was nominated for a Classical Brit Award in 2018 and has performed and toured alongside such artists as G4 and Andre Rieu’s soprano Mirusia Louwerse. She has already performed in some of the biggest venues in the UK despite her tender age including the O2 in London. Regarding the special concert Katie said, ‘I’m very much looking forward to performing in Glasgow as part of this very exciting concert series for young musicians and singers. It’s a great opportunity to share my passion for music with a new audience in a city of so much culture.’
Thomas, like Katie was also nominated for a Classical Brit Award in 2018 and this year was nominated for ‘The Best in Music Award’ He has performed in many prestigious venues including the National Concert Hall, Ireland. Thomas is looking forward just as much as Katie to this unique concert, "I am very excited to be performing in Glasgow for the first time this September and I can't wait to bring my show with the wonderful Katie to the people of Glasgow. Katie Marshall is an award-winning 18 year old Soprano. She is one of the most exciting young artists in the classical world today and captivates audiences with her pure tone, artistry and compelling stage presence. She is equally at home performing classical, contemporary and musical theatre works and has performed in lead roles of musical theatre productions, including West Side Story and Beauty and the Beast.
She is a Classic BRIT Award nominee (2018), has performed at the O2, sung on Warner Music’s ‘Christmas at Downton Abbey’ album with the Downton Abbey singer and actor, Julian Ovenden, duetted with the King’s singers’ Paul Phoenix, toured with G4, André Rieu’s Soprano Mirusia Louwerse and many others.
She supports and performs around the country for many charities, including Variety GB (at the Television and Radio Industries Club events) and has been made an Ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, Born Free Foundation, Children’s Air Ambulance and Sponsor Stars.
Katie has also recorded two albums with the VOCES8 musical director, Barnaby Smith. The first was recorded with the British Film Orchestra and includes a duet with Paul Phoenix (King’s Singers), an original song, as well a recording of John Brunning’s (Classic FM) Pie Jesu. Her new Album (Voice Divine), consisting of arias, sacred and musical theatre songs, was recorded with the Kent Sinfonia Orchestra and was mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Simon Gibson who also remastered the complete studio recordings of Maria Callas.
Thomas Cameron is a charismatic young English tenor whose powerful voice is making waves in the world of classical music. His first three singles, ‘Bring Him Home’, ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ and ‘Music of the Night’, all taken from his beautiful debut album ‘The Voice of Thomas Cameron’ have been met with critical acclaim and great enthusiasm from his growing fanbase.
Thomas was featured on BBC television where they described him as ‘wowing the music world’, a statement fully endorsed by his nominations for The Best In Music Award 2019 the 2018 Classic Brit Awards.
